Cecilia Dapaah to Lead NPP Vetting Committee Ahead of October National Elections

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has appointed former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah to chair its National Vetting Committee as preparations advance for the party’s national elections scheduled for October 3, 2026.

The committee will be responsible for vetting aspirants seeking various national executive positions after the nomination period closes.

According to the timetable announced by the party, nominations will be opened from August 17 to August 20, 2026. The vetting exercise will then take place from August 31 to September 3.

Qualified candidates are expected to be announced on September 5, while aspirants who wish to challenge decisions arising from the vetting process will have until September 14 to submit appeals.

A notice of poll will subsequently be issued ahead of the October 3 national elections.

Speaking at a press briefing, Chairman of the NPP Election Committee Frederick Opare Ansah said the party had put the various stages of the electoral process in place to promote an orderly and transparent exercise.

Opare Ansah announced Cecilia Abena Dapaah as chairperson of the National Vetting Committee.

Other members of the committee are Papa Owusu-Ankomah, Salifu Said, Ambassador Baffour Adjei Bawuah, Elizabeth Ohene, Osei Prempeh, Joyce Opoku Boateng and Arnold Boateng.

Evans Nimako will serve as secretary to the committee, according to the Election Committee chairman.

NPP Sets Nomination Fees for Aspirants

The NPP has also released the nomination fees for candidates interested in contesting the various national positions.

Aspirants for the National Chairman position will be required to pay GH¢50,000 for nomination forms.

Those seeking the First Vice Chairperson position will pay GH¢30,000, while candidates contesting for General Secretary will pay GH¢25,000.

Nomination forms for the other national executive positions have been set at GH¢10,000.

Candidates contesting positions under the party’s special wings — Youth, Women and Nasara — will pay a reduced nomination fee of GH¢8,000.

The nomination, vetting and appeals processes will lead into the NPP’s national elections on October 3, 2026.
