ShattaFest UK Suspended as Emergency Teams Respond to Incident at London Venue

ShattaFest UK was temporarily halted on Saturday after organisers reported a major incident at the festival grounds at Copthall Playing Fields in London.

The event, also known as Ghana Party in the Park, had sold out before the scheduled celebration. However, activities were paused as emergency services and relevant authorities responded at the venue.

In a public safety notice shared on social media, the organisers instructed members of the public not to travel to the festival grounds or approach the surrounding area until further notice.

“Due to a major incident at the festival site, the event has been temporarily paused,” the organisers stated. “Please do not travel to or come to the festival site until further notice.”.

According to eyewitness accounts, police officers at the venue informed some members of the crowd that the event had been cancelled. Witnesses also reported severe overcrowding near an entrance, which was said to have resulted in a crush and caused several people to collapse.

Emergency personnel were seen attending to the situation at the festival grounds.

Despite the reports from people at the venue, the organisers had not officially announced a cancellation as of publication. Their statement described the interruption as a temporary pause.

The public was urged to remain away from the area so that emergency responders could carry out their duties without obstruction. Organisers said additional information would be released when it became available.

There was also no official confirmation from emergency services regarding the number of people injured or the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

ShattaFest UK is a Ghanaian music and cultural gathering that brings together members of the Ghanaian community in Britain and other festivalgoers for live entertainment and cultural activities. Ghana Party in the Park has previously attracted thousands of attendees in London.
