University of Ghana Launches Staff Fitness Programme to Promote Workplace WellnessThe Academic Affairs Directorate of the University of Ghana has launched a new fitness programme designed to improve the health and wellbeing of faculty and staff members.The initiative, known as the AAD Fitness Regime, is being implemented with support from the university’s Sports and Wellness Directorate.According to the university, the programme supports its third Strategic Priority, which places emphasis on the welfare of faculty and staff.Speaking during the official launch, the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Professor Gordon Awandare, praised the Director and staff of the Academic Affairs Directorate for introducing the wellness initiative.Professor Awandare said the health of university employees was important to the effective operation and long-term sustainability of the institution.He encouraged faculty and staff participating in the programme to remain committed to the planned exercise activities and to approach the initiative with consistency.The Pro Vice-Chancellor also emphasised the importance of maintaining healthy habits over an extended period, rather than treating physical exercise as a temporary activity.The AAD Fitness Regime is expected to strengthen the university’s efforts to create a healthier working environment while promoting staff welfare across the institution.
