Otumfuo Commends Black Maria Team for Anti-Crime Operations in Ashanti Region **23 July 2026** Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has commended the Inspector-General of Police’s special anti-crime team, Black Maria, for its efforts to tackle criminal activities in communities across the Ashanti Region.
The Asantehene made the remarks while addressing members of the team during a special visit to him. A video of the engagement was shared on the official Facebook page of the Manhyia Palace on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
Otumfuo said the work being carried out by the officers was contributing to improved security and the protection of lives and property. He praised the team for its dedication and reminded the officers that their responsibility required commitment and service to the country. “I want to commend you for the excellent work you are doing.
Your efforts are in the interest of Ghana and contribute to the safety and well-being of us all. This is a responsibility that requires commitment, dedication, service and love for the country,” Otumfuo said, according to the video shared by Manhyia Palace.
The Asantehene also encouraged members of the Black Maria team to remain focused and vigilant as they continue their operations. He said their selection by the Inspector-General of Police reflected confidence in their ability to carry out the assignment.
“The decision by the IGP to select you for this task shows the confidence placed in your capabilities. I urge you to continue with the good work, remain vigilant and stay committed to protecting our communities,” he added.
