Hearts of Oak midfielder David Oppong Afrane has praised the impact of departed head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, highlighting the strict tactical discipline and empathetic player management that defined their recent season.
Afrane revealed that the technical team intentionally cultivated an open, modern communication framework to shield the squad from external fan pressure.
“Coach Didi and his technical team created a cordial environment,” Afrane told Kessben TV.
“They came down to our level to understand us better; of course, Didi was tough on us at times, especially when we failed to stick to the game plan.”
This strict approach to tactical discipline was paired with advanced sports science methods, which Afrane noted significantly reduced the roster’s injury rate throughout the demanding campaign.
The midfielder’s reflections shed light on a transitional period for the Phobians. Dramani, a senior CAF instructor, was initially brought in on a two-year contract to rebuild the club’s long-term football identity.
However, the board sacked him at the end of the season.
Under the guidance of head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, Hearts of Oak accumulated 54 points from 34 matches.
While they proved exceptionally difficult to beat, losing only six times all season, their title ambitions were ultimately slowed down by a league-high 15 draws alongside 13 victories.
