Hearts of Oak board eyes Prosper Ogum as Didi Dramani replacement – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results

Hearts of Oak are in discussions with Black Starlets head coach Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum to take charge as the club’s new coach, following the departure of Mas-Ud Didi Dramani at the end of the 2025/26 season.

Ogum, who led Asante Kotoko to the Ghana Premier League title in 2022, is currently under contract with the Ghana Football Association as head coach of the U-17 national team. He signed a two-year deal with the GFA in February 2026, tasking him with restoring the Black Starlets to prominence on the continent.

However, the Black Starlets failed to qualify for the U-17 World Cup after a disappointing campaign at the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations in Morocco, where they were eliminated in the group stage. That early exit could open the door for Ogum to return to club management.

Hearts of Oak parted ways with Didi Dramani on May 26 following a thorough review of the season. While the Phobians finished third in the league, management deemed changes necessary to match the club’s long-term ambitions. The club has already begun restructuring and is expected to announce a new technical direction soon.

Ogum’s experience in the Ghana Premier League is hard to ignore. Beyond his title-winning stint with Kotoko, he also guided WAFA to a third-place finish and has worked with Karela United and Ebusua Dwarfs. He also serves as the GFA’s Head of Coach Education and holds a CAF Licence A badge.

While no deal has been finalised, discussions are said to be progressing. If appointed, Ogum would become the latest high-profile coach to take the reins at one of Ghana’s most demanding clubs.
