CAF‘s Appeals Jury has released its full reasoned decision and completely rejected Senegal‘s main argument in the AFCON 2025 final controversy against Morocco.
The Senegalese Football Federation argued that once the referee restarted the match after their pitch protest, it was no longer possible for disciplinary bodies to impose any further sanctions, including a forfeit.
The Jury dismissed that argument outright, stating clearly that disciplinary instances remain fully competent to punish any facts or incidents that occurred during the encounter, regardless of the referee resuming play.
The ruling therefore upholds the 3-0 forfeit victory awarded to Morocco after Senegal walked off the pitch.
Senegal have already confirmed they will now take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS).
