The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has refuted reports circulating on some online platforms alleging that Mr Kevin Okyere, Chief Executive Officer of Springfield Energy, has been arrested or detained in Dubai in connection with an ongoing investigation by the Office.
In a press statement dated November 2, 2025, and signed by the Head of Public Affairs on behalf of the Executive Director, EOCO described the publication by the online news portal Novareport as false and misleading.
According to the statement, EOCO currently has two active investigations involving Springfield Energy – one based on a petition against the company and another relating to an ongoing case between the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST) and Springfield Energy.
The Office clarified that, as a matter of policy, investigations must precede any arrests, not the reverse. It further noted that the BOST – Springfield matter remains a priority due to its potential impact on BOST’s finances and the broader Ghanaian economy.
EOCO expressed regret that Novareport failed to seek clarification before publishing the report and reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, professionalism, and due process in handling economic and organised crime investigations.

“The public is urged to disregard the false claims made by Novareport and take note that EOCO is actively working on not one, but two investigations involving Springfield Energy,” the statement concluded.
EOCO reiterated its dedication to investigating and prosecuting economic and organised crimes in Ghana and encouraged the media to verify facts before publication.
