“No political vendetta in fight against wrongdoing; accountability will apply to all”

President John Mahama says his administration will not use accountability as a tool for political persecution, stressing that no individual will be targeted because of political differences.

Addressing citizens during the Resetting Ghana engagement, he said anyone found culpable of wrongdoing, including members of his own government, will face the full force of the law.

President John Mahama stressed that accountability remains central to his administration’s efforts to reduce corruption, eliminate waste and ensure public resources are used effectively.

He insisted that government’s approach is not driven by political vendetta, but by evidence and due process.

He emphasised that the same standards will apply to his own appointees, warning that any official who abuses the public trust will be held accountable.

The President urged ministers and government officials to follow due processes and seek collective Cabinet guidance on major decisions to promote transparency and shared responsibility.

President Mahama also attributed government’s investments in infrastructure to improved management of domestic resources rather than excessive borrowing.

He said government allocated GH¢13.8 billion to the Big Push infrastructure programme last year and has committed GH¢30.8 billion this year, bringing total investment to more than GH¢40 billion.

According to him, reducing waste and prioritising prudent financial management will continue to define the administration as it works to deliver national development.
