The Centre for Africa Development and Progress (CADeP) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, former First Lady of the Republic of Ghana.
In a statement signed by Mr Johanes Koku Nyagblordzro, Executive Chairman of CADeP, the late Mrs Agyeman-Rawlings was praised as a trailblazer for women’s empowerment, leadership, and civic participation.
“Nana Konadu was more than a public figure, she was a stalwart in Ghana’s socio-political landscape, a fearless advocate for women’s empowerment, and a visionary who transformed advocacy into action,” the statement said.
CADeP highlighted her instrumental role in founding the 31st December Women’s Movement, through which she championed the economic, educational, and social empowerment of women across Ghana and the African continent.
Her initiatives in education, health, and entrepreneurship, the statement noted, remain enduring foundations for gender equality and national development.
The Centre stated that Mrs Agyeman-Rawlings’ vision closely aligned with its own mission of educating Africans on governance, promoting entrepreneurship, and nurturing transformative leadership.

“Nana Konadu’s vision of an Africa where women lead, learn, and thrive mirrors CADeP’s pursuit of transformative leadership and progress,” the statement added.
CADeP described her passing as a great loss to Ghana, Africa, and all who believe in education, empowerment, and social progress, noting that her courage, intellect, and passion for justice would continue to inspire generations, particularly young women, to rise as agents of change.
The organisation extended its heartfelt condolences to her children, the Rawlings family, and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) fraternity, affirming that her legacy of service and empowerment would endure.
“As we mourn her loss, CADeP also celebrates her immense contribution to Ghana’s democratic evolution and Africa’s socio-economic growth. May her soul rest in eternal peace,” the statement concluded.
