Reigning champions Bibiani Gold Stars open their campaign at the Dun’s Park in Bibiani against Bechem United on Saturday afternoon, as they set out to defend the historic title they claimed for the first time last season.
Gold Stars enter the new campaign buoyed by their recent success in the GHALCA Top 4, although they fell short against Asante Kotoko in the Champion of Champions.
Head coach Frimpong Manso has reinforced his squad across all departments to ensure depth and quality. Goalkeeper Kwadwo Osei Bonsu has arrived to provide competition for Emmanuel Kobi. At the same time, the attack has been boosted with the arrivals of Sampson Eduku, Prince Opoku Agyemang, Emmanuel Agyenim Boateng, and Burkinabé forward Sanou Razack.
In midfield, experienced campaigners Francis Twene, Emmanuel Fosu Kyei, Emmanuel Kontor, Emmanuel Agyei, and Emmanuel Kojo Addy will be expected to dictate the team’s tempo as they look to maintain their dominance.

Bechem United, on the other hand, are targeting a top-four finish after ending last season in 10th place. They have strengthened their squad with a number of additions, most notably former Manchester City prospect Aminu Mohammed, who is expected to add flair and creativity in attack.
Head-to-head, Gold Stars have enjoyed the better record in recent years. Since September 2022, the two sides have clashed six times, with Gold Stars winning three, Bechem one, and two ending in draws.
The most recent meeting came on April 16, 2025, when Gold Stars ran out 2-0 winners away from home. Over that period, Gold Stars have scored five goals to Bechem’s three, underlining their upper hand in this fixture.
Saturday’s clash promises to be a keenly contested affair with Gold Stars seeking to launch their title defence in style and Bechem aiming to show they can compete at the top end of the table.
