The Petroleum Commission has marked the 15th anniversary of its establishment as Ghana’s upstream petroleum regulator, commemorating 15 years since the Petroleum Commission Act, 2011 (Act 821), received Presidential Assent on July 14, 2011.
In a message marking the milestone, Acting Chief Executive Officer Emeafa Hardcastle said the Commission has remained committed to its mandate of regulating, managing and coordinating the efficient development and utilisation of Ghana’s petroleum resources.
She noted that the Commission has promoted local content and local participation, strengthened regulatory oversight, collaborated with government and industry stakeholders, and supported the growth, safety and sustainability of the upstream petroleum sector while advancing the participation of Ghanaians in the industry.
Ms Hardcastle expressed appreciation to the Government of Ghana, industry partners, sector agencies, host communities, current and former Board members, past Chief Executive Officers, retired staff and employees of the Commission for their contributions to its achievements over the past 15 years.
She said the Commission remains focused on strengthening regulatory excellence, promoting investor confidence, encouraging responsible resource management and ensuring Ghana’s hydrocarbon resources continue to deliver long-term benefits for present and future generations.
The Acting CEO added that a series of activities to mark the Commission’s 15th anniversary will be announced in due course.
