The conviction of 37-year-old South African national Asandra Denise by the High Court of Sierra Leone has sparked intense debate across Africa. On 18 June 2026, Justice Andrew S. C. Johnson sentenced Denise to a cumulative 130 years in prison after she was found guilty on five cocaine trafficking charges.
