The Developing Women for Mobilization (DWM) has marked its 44th anniversary with a renewed call for women empowerment, affirmative action education, and greater inclusion of women in national development, while paying glowing tribute to its late President, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.
In a statement issued to commemorate the milestone, the DWM described the occasion as one of both celebration and reflection, highlighting four decades of commitment to the empowerment, dignity, and advancement of women across Ghana. The statement also celebrated the transformation of countless lives and the breaking of barriers for women.
According to the statement signed by Project Director Peace Aryee, Mrs. Rawlings’ courage, wisdom, and advocacy shaped the lives of millions of women and inspired generations to pursue leadership and social change. She stressed that the founder’s legacy continues to live on through women and girls who continue to rise in confidence and ambition because of the foundation she helped establish.

“For 44 years, we have stood at the forefront of change, challenging inequality, fostering leadership, and building pathways where none existed,” the statement said, adding that the organization remains resolute in advancing the cause of women despite ongoing challenges.
The DWM also used the anniversary celebration to urge government to intensify affirmative action education and ensure effective implementation of policies within communities to encourage more competent and capable women to take up leadership and developmental roles in society.
It further expressed appreciation to its members, partners, and supporters for their continuous commitment to its mission over the years. It reaffirmed its determination to continue pushing boundaries, uplifting women’s voices, and creating opportunities for women and girls to thrive.
