2,000 GAF Recruits to Report Tomorrow as First Batch Selection Concludes

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has officially completed the selection of its first batch of 2,000 recruits for 2026, with all successful candidates ordered to report to their regional selection centres across the country on Wednesday, March 18, at 9:00 am to collect appointment letters and official prospectuses.

The announcement, signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, confirms the conclusion of the first of four planned recruitment batches for the year, part of a broader government plan to enlist 12,000 personnel into the Ghana Armed Forces over the next three years.

The first batch includes 18 individuals who sustained injuries during the El-Wak Stadium stampede in November 2025, as well as five additional places sponsored by families of the six women who lost their lives in the incident. The inclusion of the stampede survivors and victim families follows a commitment the GAF made in the immediate aftermath of the tragedy.

The GAF also confirmed that individuals from Sikaman in the Ashanti Region who assisted in the rescue operation during last year’s military helicopter crash are being considered for inclusion in the second batch.

Applicants who were flagged for treatable medical conditions during screening have been assured they will be invited for a follow-up medical review at no additional cost, giving them a pathway to reconsider in subsequent batches.

The GAF noted it has a pool of highly qualified candidates from aptitude testing whose scores were strong enough for consideration beyond the current year’s intake, and encouraged unsuccessful applicants in the first batch to remain patient ahead of the three remaining batches.

The decentralised recruitment structure, conducted across all 16 regions with support from regional administrations, was introduced to make military enlistment more accessible and reduce the concentration of applicants at a single venue that contributed to the November stampede.
