Edem Agbana hails success of maiden MTN Elite U19 Championship in Prampram – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results



Chairman of the MTN Elite U19 Championship, Edem Agbana, has hailed the successful conclusion of the maiden edition of the tournament held in Prampram.

The Ketu North MP described the competition as a major step forward for youth football development in Ghana, commending the level of organisation, discipline, and technical quality displayed throughout the 11-day event.

“Amazing, amazing. You can see the feeling here. This is football, quality football made here in Ghana, made here in Prampram,” Agbana said after the final.

“I think that generally it has been a very, very successful championship, very successful tournament.”

Eastern Region clinched the title after defeating Brong Ahafo 4–2 on penalties in Sunday’s final at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.

The champions showed remarkable composure to recover from two missed penalties during regulation time before sealing victory in the shootout.

Greater Accra Region finished third with a 2-0 win over Ashanti Region in the third-place playoff.

Their striker, Yussif Saani, claimed both the Most Valuable Player and Goal King awards after scoring five goals in six matches.

Eastern Region’s Ishmael Azagonor was named Best Goalkeeper, while teammate Prince Boakye earned the Most Promising Player honour, capping a tournament that showcased Ghana’s rich youth football potential.
