Spain have booked their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final with a clinical 2-0 victory over France at AT&T Stadium on Tuesday, 14 July 2026.

The high-stakes clash ended the tournament-favourite French team’s dreams of reaching a third consecutive World Cup final.

The breakthrough came in the 22nd minute. Spanish teenager Lamine Yamal drew a foul from French defender Lucas Digne inside the penalty area.

Mikel Oyarzabal stepped up to the spot, coolly converting the penalty kick to give La Roja an early lead.

However, France pushed hard for an equaliser but struggled to break through a highly disciplined Spanish defense.

Spain then doubled their advantage in the 58th minute, when defender Pedro Porro initiated a brilliant one-two pass with Dani Olmo before sliding the ball past French goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

Spain’s backline successfully neutralized France’s star-studded frontline of Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé, Bradley Barcola, and Michael Olise.

Les Bleus were limited to just three shots on target throughout the match. With this victory, Spain advances to their first World Cup final since winning the tournament in 2010.

They will face either England or Argentina on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

France will face the loser of the England-Argentina semi-final in Saturday’s third-place play-off.
