World Cup 2026: Heartbroken Caleb Yirenkyi promises brighter future after Ghana elimination – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results

Black Stars midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi has issued an emotional public statement following Ghana’s elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, sharing his deep heartbreak while promising that the national team will bounce back stronger.

The 20-year-old breakout star took to social media to connect with fans following a painful 1-0 defeat against Colombia in the Round of 32 in Kansas City.

The narrow loss ended a promising World Cup campaign for head coach Carlos Queiroz’s side, who advanced from Group L but ultimately struggled to break down a highly disciplined Colombian defense.

Reflecting on the knockout stage exit, Yirenkyi admitted the pain of the early departure remains fresh for the squad. “Even after some time to reflect, this one still hurts,” Yirenkyi stated.

“Our World Cup journey has come to an end, but I’m incredibly proud to have represented my country on the biggest stage.”

The FC Nordsjælland midfielder, who became a tournament fan favorite after scoring Ghana’s historic opening goal against Panama in June, expressed deep gratitude to the Black Stars faithful.

“Thank you all for your unwavering support,” he added. “It means more than you know. Thank you Ghana.”

Despite the setback, the young prodigy remains optimistic about the future of Ghanaian football, vowing to use the tournament as a springboard for individual and collective development.

“This is not the end,” Yirenkyi concluded. “I’ll keep working, keep improving. The best is yet to come!”
