Panama will head into their opening 2026 FIFA World Cup match against Ghana after facing three opponents in a busy preparation schedule.
Head coach Thomas Christiansen has named his final 26-man squad for the tournament, with the Central Americans set to fine-tune their preparations through a series of high-profile friendlies before travelling to Canada.
Los Canaleros will first take on five-time world champions Brazil at the iconic Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. They will then return home to face the Dominican Republic at the Estadio Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez before concluding their preparations against Bosnia and Herzegovina at Energizer Park in the United States.
Following those matches, Panama will move to their World Cup training base in Ontario, Canada, ahead of the tournament.
The warm-up fixtures are expected to provide Christiansen with a final opportunity to assess his squad before the team’s Group L campaign begins.
Panama have been drawn alongside Ghana, England and Croatia and will open their World Cup journey against the Black Stars on June 17 at Toronto Stadium.
The fixture could prove pivotal in determining which teams challenge for qualification to the knockout stage, with England and Croatia considered the group’s favourites.
Ghana are also stepping up preparations for the tournament. Carlos Queiroz’s side opened camp in Cardiff this week and will face Wales in an international friendly on June 2 before travelling to North America.
The Black Stars will begin their World Cup campaign against Panama before facing England in Boston and Croatia in Philadelphia as they seek a place in the last 16.
