The Ghana Football Association has opened an all-female CAF Licence C Coaching Course at the GFA Technical Centre in Prampram, bringing together 30 aspiring and active female coaches from across the country.

The programme marks another step in the GFA’s efforts to increase female participation in coaching and strengthen the development of women’s football in Ghana.

Organised in collaboration with FIFA Women’s Development through the Coach Education Scholarship initiative, the course is designed to equip participants with the technical and practical skills required to advance their coaching careers.

Over the duration of the programme, the coaches will receive training in modern coaching methods, player development, leadership, tactical understanding and other key aspects of the game.

The opening ceremony was attended by several football stakeholders, including GFA Executive Council member and Women’s Representative Dr Gifty Oware Mensah.

Speaking at the event, Women’s Football Development Officer Jennifer Amankwa Sarpong stressed the importance of creating more opportunities for women to thrive in coaching and other technical roles within football.

She noted that increasing female representation in coaching remains a key objective as the association works to expand opportunities for women in the sport.

The course forms part of the Ghana Women’s Football Strategy, which seeks to strengthen the foundations of the women’s game while creating a sustainable pathway for future female coaches, mentors and football leaders.

The participants are expected to undergo intensive classroom and field sessions as they work towards obtaining the CAF Licence C coaching qualification.
